Get involved in White Ribbon Day

November 25 each year is White Ribbon Day.

White Ribbon Day is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The White Ribbon Day campaign is led by men who are taking a stand against violence against women and helping to create positive role models for other men in the community.

The basic idea behind White Ribbon Day is that change is more likely to happen if we all share responsibility for violence prevention. Men who care about the women in their lives can help to ensure that they — and all other women — might one day live free from violence and the fear of violence.

Until now, women have carried most of the burden of working towards an end to men's violence against women and children. White Ribbon Day supporters recognise that as men are the main users of violence, this is unacceptable.

Although White Ribbon Day is held in Victoria, you can participate at any time of the year - months of planning goes into making each year's campaign a success. Visit the national White Ribbon Day website for an overview of the campaign, and contact No To Violence to find out how you can become involved in urban and rural Victoria.
