Welcome to the Men's Referral Service
Male Family Violence Telephone Counsellors: 2012 Recruitment
The Men's Referral Service is commencing recruitment for men to volunteer as male family violence Telephone Counsellors. The training program is supported and conducted by accredited professionals and will commence in late March.
Volunteering with the Men's Referral Service provides a great opportunity for men to become involved in the prevention of family violence in our community and can provide a pathway into other community based employment opportunities, such as men's behaviour change work, counselling, social work or housing services.
Do you fit the bill?
We are seeking men from various walks of life. There are no academic prerequisites, nor do we expect applicants to have direct experience of - or work experience in - the family violence sector. We are looking for men who are willing to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and who would be comfortable talking to people about issues of violence or difficult personal and emotional situations.
The training
Our training course is challenging, informative, professionally delivered and fulfilling. As well as equipping people to be effective telephone counsellors for our service, it provides significant opportunities for participants to experience valuable personal growth and development. You will find it very difficult to work with us without being open to personal change.
